. The bridge is 333 metres (1,092.5 ft) long, and the maximum clearance to the sea is 28 metres (91.9 ft).

The current bridge replaced an older bridge that was opened on 20 December 1936. The old bridge was a steel arch bridge that was 304 metres (997.4 ft) long and had a main span of 80 metres (262.5 ft).
