village of Nakhichevan. Aznaberd was the only Armenian inhabited village in Nakhichevan in 1980s. The villagers called the hamlet Nor Aznaberd (meaning "New Aznaberd" in Armenian), referring to their origin. South of this location are the ruins of a fortress.
