He was born in Putorgandi, in what is today Ustupu Island, Panama. He was a leader of the Kuna from early in the twentieth century until his death.

Iguaibilikinya Nele Kantule was born at Putorgandi...on the mainland coast, not far from present day Ustupu Island, Kuna Yala.
The majority Kuna migrated to the islands to get away from the mosquitos.
