History
Nauvoo was founded in 1888, during the construction of the Northern Alabama Railway, and was formerly a center of coal mining. Originally known as Ingle Mills, it was renamed by resident Tom Carroll for unknown reasons in honor of Nauvoo, IllinoisNauvoo, Illinois
