. It came into existence on 1 April 2011 and combines all the functions of the two former organisations. The offices of Registrar General for Scotland and Keeper of the Records of Scotland both continue within the new body, although following Duncan Macniven's retirement as Registrar General in August 2011, both roles are combined in the person of George Mackenzie.
