for their administrative area to common standards and specification. This is almost a unique example of working by consensus to achieve a common goal.

As Local Authorities have statutory obligations in regard to planning, building control and street naming and numbering in Scotland, they are the source of definitive address information and also the source of any change element about land or property.

The National Gazetteer was compiled by Forth Valley GIS and renamed "One Scotland Gazetteer".
