The National Committee for West Papua (abbreviated KNPB or West Papua National Committee) is a Papuan peoples
' group campaigning for independence of Papua and West Papua.
In April 2009, 8 protesters were killed by police during a demonstration involving more than 15,000 people, sponsored by the KNPB. A policeman was wounded by an arrow. On 22 March 2010, KNPB organises a series of new events. 15 Papuans were arrested after police used firearms to disperse the crowd.
