Function

The aim of the NAPF is to be the leading voice of retirement provision through the workplace.

The NAPF provides various services to their members from lobbying government and regulators to undertaking research about various aspects of the pensions industry. They provide training for members and host a number of different seminars and conferences throughout the year which aim to keep members up-to-date with what is going on in the world of pensions.

Structure

The NAPF is a not for profit organisation run by a board made up of executive directors and industry representatives who are responsible for the overall strategy and direction of the organisation. The association has two councils which are responsible for the policy direction of the organisation. The Investment Council is responsible for developing the NAPF’s position on investment policy and the Retirement Policy Council is responsible for developing the NAPF’s position on major areas of pension policy.

Each of the Councils has a number of sub-committees and working groups who provide the detail for the NAPF’s policy positions. The Board is made up of members of both Councils. The current chairman of the NAPF is Lindsay Tomlinson.

Membership

The NAPF has 1,200 members which include large and small companies, multi-employer schemes, local authority and public sector bodies. The members together provide pensions for over 10 million people currently in employment and another 5 million retired people.

Membership of the NAPF is open to any organisation providing any form of retirement provision for employees and to those providing professional advice and services to pension schemes.
