. The village got its name because it provided good quality powdered sandalwood paste for all nagarathar functions(Nalla+Saanthu+Pati). The village has several buildings which are between 100 & 200 years old and which were built by Nattukottai Nagarathar Chettiars

There are many small villages around nachandupattti like pudur,kottur,etc. Famous celebrities who hail from this place, include Thambi Ramaiah (Director), Pandiraj (Director). There is a ICICI Bank located at the main road of the village. Each house of the village has a peculiar nickname like 'Kaattu Meeni Aayal Veedu'. There is a temple which is 200 years old called 'Karrupar Kovil' located at one side corner of the village.
