History

NUFC.com began in 1996 as a basic page with information about the club, its players and various other aspects. From the 1999-2000 season onward, reports for every match were published. The main author of these reports is Mike Bolam, however site co-creator Niall MacKenzie also contributes, and a very small number have been written by others, usually when the two main correspondents have been unable to attend a particular match.

In 2000 the website had a series of interviews with John Beresford

. Beresford was asked before certain matches to give his thoughts on the opposition and these were published on the website. Beresford was one of the few Newcastle players interviewed by NUFC.com. The website often quotes (and attributes) articles from both national and local newspapers which relate to the club.

Recently, the website has acquired sponsorship, in order to provide revenue to aid with maintenance costs. Today the website's major sponsor is Toon Ale and has numerous minor sponsors such as "Marco Polo" restaurant, "Paddy Power

" and "The Back Page".

In 2007 Mike Bolam published the book "The Newcastle Miscellany", packed full of Newcastle United facts, figures, quotes and anecdotes, including the wit and wisdom of Bobby Robson: "We can't replace Gary Speed. Where do you get an experienced player with a left foot and a head?"
