Political career

In 1985, he contested for Karnataka state legislative assembly on a ticket from the Janata Dal party and won the election with a good margin. After his tenure as a M.L.A, he resumed his job back at A. H. School, Bankikodla. He later contested again and lost the seat to the Karnataka state legislative assembly. In 1992, he died of a heart attack.
