History

Completed in 1986, Mother Mary Ward elementary school was built to accommodate overflow students from the nearby St. Anthony's Elementary School. In its first year of operation grades ranged from JK to 6, the second year JK to 7 and finally JK to 8. The first graduatating class of grade 8 students departed in 1988.

Construction

The school is a two storey structure that sits on 2.06 hectares of land. The school was designed in a modular fashion to allow for quick construction and subsequent destruction. The school does not have an elevator or barrier-free washroom facilities and therefore does not meet the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act of 2005
