is born.

Monkey Hill is also an area in the small town of Hatfield, Massachusetts. It is on the crest of a hill now known as Chestnut Street. It is rumored to be named "Monkey Hill" because the local Wampanoag Indian tribe in the 1600's used the area as a sacred ground for making sacrifices to the gods. The medicine man of the tribe named it such and placed a curse on the hill warning that anyone desecrating the site would be turned into monkeys. It is believed that there are millions of dollars of Indian artifacts, gold, silver, and wampum buried in stone vaults just below the surface. However, no one has successfully found any treasures, although some have tried and quickly abandoned the search for unknown reasons. Perhaps the curse is real. One large home built on the site over twenty years ago is still unoccupied. No one seems to know why. The owner and builder lives across the street but has never been seen entering the house. It is said that a ghost wanders the halls at night.
