Abu Salem Connection
Monica Bedi was married to Abu Salem and lived with him as his wife briefly. They first met in Dubai and followed by many several meetings they were living together and finally were arrested in Lisbon,Portugal and was extradiated to India along with Monica Bedi in Nov 2005. Salem and second wife Monica Bedi intercepted in Portugal for carrying forged documents. Along with Bedi sentenced to five years' jail term. The forged passport on which Bedi was traveling was issued in the name of Samiya Mallick Kamal by the passport office in Hyderabad. The apex court, while upholding her conviction, further reduced her sentence to the imprisonment she had already undergone.She has served two years and six months in jail in the case.
She faced another passport forgery case in Bhopal where she was accused of having allegedly procured a passport in the name of Fauzia Usman. In this case, she was acquitted by the trial court July 17, 2007.
