History

The Ministry of Industry started out in 1933 as a division or the Industrial Division in the Department of Commerce ( (now Ministry of Commerce

) of the Ministry of Economics ( (now defunct). In 1941 the division was upgraded to the Department of Industry (still in the Economic Ministry).

On the 5 May 1942 a Ministry of Industry was eventually created in its own right.
