Professional career

Anchondo turned pro in 2000 and won his first 25 fights including the vacant WBO super featherweight title in 2004 with a decision win over Julio Pablo Chacon, a fight in which Chacón was down in the 12th with two minutes remaining. Anchondo lost the title in his first defense against Jorge Rodrigo Barrios
