Office of the Racing Commissioner

The Office of the Racing Commissioner is assigned to the Agriculture Department but is an independent (Type I) office having oversight over horse racing. Commissioner Christine C. White stepped down from office to accept a position with the national Department of Agriculture. Due to Governor Granholm's Executive Order No. 2009 — 45 signed on October 8, 2009 transfer the duties of the Racing Commissioner to the Michigan Gaming Control Board and abolishes the office effective January 17,2010.
