racetrack. It featured a quarter mile drag strip where one could race all types of modified cars or traditional racing cars. The dragstrip went from the SW to the NE. It closed in 1992 due to western expansion of new homes. A part of the subdivision of Pembroke Isles now occupies the site of the drag strip, while the subdivision's wetland buffer site bordering Pines Boulevard now occupies the site of the racetrack itself. These wetlands were the resting point of numerous race cars that went off the end of the track, to the chagrin of many racers, and the delight of many a grandstand dweller.
