Schoorl is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Bergen, and lies about 8 km northwest of Alkmaar. Until 2001, Schoorl was also a municipality of its own....

. It was awarded a Michelin star in 1998, and has held it since. It was named of Dutch restaurant of the year 2012 by restaurant guide Grootspraak.

History

Merlet was founded in 1984, and was awarded a Michelin star in 1998, under chef Allan Pearson. In 2001 he was succeeded by Wilco Berends, who in turn was succeeded by Timo Munts in 2007.
