Prof. Rammohan Rao later resigned from the Satyam board. He also resigned from the government panel to select a Reserve Bank of India deputy governor.

Dr. Rao stepped down dean of the Indian School of Business on 8th January, 2009. He was later appointed as Dean Emeritus of the institute.
