McArthur is historically known for having a strong athletic program. The wrestling team won multiple championships in the 80's and 90's earning the status of one of the elite wrestling programs in the state of Florida. The baseball team has also won a number of district championships in the past with the most recent coming in 2011 under the guidance of Head Baseball Coach, Daniel Baugh. The football team has also won its share of football games especially in the 90's and early 2000's never having a losing season until recently. Former Head Football Coach, Keith Franklin earned the best season for the Mustangs taking the team to the 3rd round of FHSAA playoffs in 2001. McArthur hired Andrew Rhoden in December 2010, a former assistant coach of Hampton University to return the Mustang program back to a contender in the state.
