It is said that thousands of years ago, when the field of Korce was covered by water, (Kenete), Mborje was the center of the civilization. This is also testified by many Palofites (houses built in the water) found there, and some very ancient churches too.
The Holy Resurrection Church , a 14th century church, is one of the most important cultural monuments of the settlement.
