 district of Boston, Massachusetts. In December 2002 he stood for election in the special election held after councilman Brian Honan died, coming second in the polls and losing to Jerry McDermott in the final ballot on 2002-12-10. He has worked as director of the Veronica Smith Senior Center. In 2007, he stood again for office, and with an endorsement from the Boston Globe he defeated Greg Glennon in the general election, after McDermott decided not to stand for re-election.
