Morikawa's fame reached the United States where she was featured on the front and back covers of the Summer 1999 issue of Oriental Cinema. Reviewing her Cho Nyu Densetsu Q Kono Chichi O Kurae - Morikawa Mariko, author and critic Damon Foster calls the video "just typical pornographic nonsense, with nudity galore..." About the lead actress, Foster says, "Mariko Morikawa may be considered too 'pudgy' for most men's taste, but I think she's an intense beauty."

Morikawa posed and appeared in videos while pregnant before apparently dropping out of sight about 2004. On May 23, 2007 Mariko made her reappearance on Tokyo Topless with two additional photo sets (#8 and #9).
