Manntis originally formed in 2000 as a four-piece group. The band gathered mainstream attention in 2004 when they were one of the contestants on MTV

The band announced that their next album, tentatively titled Master of Ceremonies

was due for a 2007 release, but has been long since delayed. It is expected to be released Spring/Summer 2008.
As of mid-August, the band is currently on hiatus and will return sometime in the future. The band recently put up a new track on their myspace page titled "Master of Ceremonies".
