The Maltese goat
breed, as the name suggests, originates from the island of Malta
. Today it has spread to many Mediterranean countries, but has been particularly selectively bred in Sicily
and Southern Italy. It produces a large quantity of milk: from 500 to 600 kg of milk for 270–300 days.
It is characterized by a predominantly white coat coloration with a black head and ears and a thick white stripe running through the middle of the face.
