History

The station was originally opened on 16 June 1884 and was closed to passenger services on 6 January 1941. After this date, the line was used only for goods traffic until closure on 3 December 1976. The Maldon station was opened for tourist services in 1986 over a short 1 km section of the line out of Maldon. The line has been extended to Castlemaine
