Maelstrom is the third book of the Destroyermen series

Captain Matthew Reddy, the crew of the Walker and their Lemurian allies, have won several battles against the Grik, a loathsome race of cannibilistic lizards engaged in a war of genocide against the sea-going lemur race Walker has befriended. But the Grik have now sent a huge force (500 ships, 150,000-200,000 soldiers) to destroy them and their adopted base at Baalkpaan. Worse yet, the Grik force is accompanied by a Japanese heavy cruiser, the Amagi, which has made a Devil's bargain with the lizards. The Amagi by itself is more than a match for both of Reddy's antique destroyers and battered Catalina PBY -- can they prevail?
