History

Founded in 1971, MTF was created as a cooperative

 to offer vehicle financing through a group of twelve Dunedin motor vehicle dealers. Over time, MTF has grown to a dealer network throughout New Zealand. MTF is now an investor owned company, with ownership closely held by the dealers and franchisees who originate and ultimately guarantee repayment of the loans they individually originate. Originators must meet strict criteria in terms of customer focussed business practice, financial strength, and knowledge of the finance products they sell.

MTF has a strong presence in Canterbury and donated NZD$20,000 to the New Zealand Red Cross
