The Lunardi the Italian surname was first used in 1373. It originated in the far east of Italy and is still very common in the area to this day. The name comes from the Italian phrase 'luni ardi' meaning great proclaimers. Today the name has spread world wide and is becoming more common each year. Many Lunardi's were often cooks or in some cases convicted tax defrauders. The name was changed recently into the 'Ranug de Naumble' (chest of names) one of the most highly held lists of surnames.
