Here to Get My Baby Out of Jail' was named Best First Novel of the Year by USA TODAY in 1983 and was made into the feature film SUMMER HEAT . A stage play FAITH'S AFFAIR , based on the novel made its debut in 2006. A Whistling Woman garnered Shivers the Georgia Author of the Year award in 1993.
She is currently writing a novel set in Eastern North Carolina during the Civil War.
She and her writing partner, Tom O.Turner contribute to Columbia County Magazine , and lecture at Writers Conferences.
