Early life

Loong was born as Lee Pui Sang, she is ranked fourth in her family, and the day she was born coincidentally was the day that the Guanyin Goddess of Mercy's birthday. Loong joined Cantonese opera in 1960, joining the then Sin Fung Ming troupe created by the legendary Yam Kim Fai

. She quickly became Yam Kim Fai's disciple, and was treasured by Yam very much.

Career

Loong achieved success during the late 1960s and 1970s, and gained a lot of popularity by acting in various types of Cantonese opera. In 1983, she was even invited by the Las Vegas casino Caesar's Palace to perform. Loong became an internationally renowned actress and was awarded in 1990 the best actor's award by the Hong Kong Artists Alliance. She later retired in 1992, and moved to Canada.

Comeback

In November 2004, in commemoration of her master Yam Kim Fai's 15th death anniversary, Loong returned to the stage and performed with Mui Suet See and both actresses performances were hugely successful, and thus Loong became one of the major performers of Cantonese Opera till today. Despite this, compared to the legendary Yam, her skills is still considered inferior to her master's.
