The Wisconsin Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church purchased the property in 1976 for $2.8 million and operated the Martin Luther Preparatory School (MLPS) from 1978 to 1994. The State of Wisconsin purchased the facility in 1995 for $2.5 million to be used as a Juvenile Correctional Institution for nonassaultive male youthful offenders.
