During the 1990s, Evans was employed at the University of Florida

as a writer in the department of Educational and Media Services. Her title was Coordinator Educational Media/Communications and International Focus Newsletter Editor.
Both of these books have been written as first halves or first thirds of a story. While this might not be mentionable otherwise, in the case of Far Edge of Darkness there is a literal cliffhanger at the end, meaning the story is unfinished and has been since 1996. Almost the same can be said for Sleipnir, which is also the start of an unfinished storyline.
