In 2001, Liberty Bank merged with Hometown Bank, and added four new locations. In 2003, Liberty broke ground on its first-ever affordable housing complex: Uncas Condominiums, in Norwich, and opened another office, bringing the network of branches to 34. In 2005, the bank introduced the state’s first checking account to offer rebates of other banks' ATM surcharges.

The Liberty Bank Foundation celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2007, and having granted $4.6 million during this time. Liberty Bank added a branch in Wethersfield, CT in 2008, and introduced Quarter Back Checking…a product that pays 25 cents back on every non-PIN-based debit card transaction of $25 or more.
