Career

From 1998 to 2000 Varshalomidze was Head of the Bilateral Relations Office of the International Law Department at the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2000 to 2002 he was Chairman of the Executive Department at the Georgian Ministry of Justice. In 2002 Varshalomidze was briefly the Director of the Law Department at the Georgian Ministry of Finance, and he was a scientific researcher at the Georgian State and Law Institute.

From 2002 to 2004 he was partner of trust company Damenia, Varshalomidze, Nogaideli and Kavtaradze. In January 2004 Varshalomidze became the General Director of Georgian Railways. In May 2004 he received the envoy of Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili

On 20 July 2004 the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara confirmed his appointment as the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
