n author of children's books and an illustrator. His works includes the Old Tom series and Fiona the Pig. He is mainly a children's book author. Lots of children like his books because of his illustrations. The pictures he draws are mainly in cartoon form.

Childhood

He was born in Melbourne but grew up in a small country town. He went to art school and became an art teacher. He has been a freelance cartoonist for the Age and makes pen and ink drawings, paintings and 3D work.

Books

Old Tom

Old Tom was one of his first published books. It was published in 1994. More of the Old Tom books were published after the first was successful. The others include Old Tom Man of Mystery, Old Tom at the Beach, and Old Tom's Holiday. The first books had black and white drawings. Then Old Tom's Holiday came out in colour. In 2002, Old Tom was turned into an animated cartoon.

Horrible Harriet

In his book, Horrible Harriet, the teacher of the main character, Harriet, thinks Harriet is the perfect pupil, but to other students Harriet is a tyrant and a bully. That's until a new boy with exquisite manners arrives at school and Harriet becomes his friend.

Then in Hooray for Horrible Harriet Harriet's first friend leaves the school, so Harriet uses magic to make a new one: Mr Chicken! Then comes the book 'Mr Chicken Goes to Paris' which has been described as Leigh Hobbs masterpiece.

Freaks

Another book that is realistic about some of the people you meet at school is 4F for freaks which was followed by Freaks Ahoy where the 4F students go to sea.

Fiona the Pig

Fiona is a misfit in her family because she keeps her room neat, clean and nicely scented.
