Laloor Sree Karthiyayini Temple is one among 108 Durgalayas found by Saint Parasurama. Sree Karthiyayini Temple. This temple is located at Laloor, 5 km south-west of Sree Vadakumnatha temple. Laloor Sree Karthiyayini temple is distinct in many ways. There are no sub - shrines in the temple. The "Valiya Balikkallu" is nearly eight feet high which shows that the type of prathistha. Temple architecture is closely connected to Sankaranarayana temple in Vadakkumnatha complex. The priests were from the same family who were head priests of Sree Rama temple of Vadakkumnatha temple. The sanctum sanctorum and mural paintings are in the shrines. The Kerala style of architecture, the Gothic style of mural painting of the temple are without any parallel. The temple was owned by the Mannath family. Due to various reasons the temple was taken over

Dr.John Matthai Centre (JMC)
Laloor also houses the Dr.John Matthai Centre (JMC Centre) which is owned and run by the University of Calicut. The place was the abode of economist John Matthai, who donated it to the University of Calicut. It has many faculties, such as a School of Drama, Economics Research centre, MBA, MCA.
