The Lake View Citizens' Council (LVCC) is a non-profit civic organization serving the Lake View
community on the north side of Chicago, Illinois. Its boundaries (roughly Lake Michigan
on the east, the north branch of the Chicago River
on the west, Diversey Parkway on the south, going south on Lakewood Avenue until it meets the Chicago River, and Irving Park Road on the north) are approximately those of the original township
of Lake View founded in the early 19th century and annexed by the City of Chicago in 1889.
The council was formed in 1952. LVCC was established to provide citizens in Lake View with the opportunity to work together for the common good of the Lake View community. Its offices are located at 3355 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60657. The current president of the organization is Jennifer Dedes Nowak.
Twelve neighborhood associations form the Lake View Citizens' Council (LVCC):
LVCC has worked to play a key role in supporting property tax reforms, developing the Jarvis bird sanctuary, helping create the Neighborhood Protection Plan, coordinating the Thanksgiving food drive to assist the Lake View Food Pantry, spearheading "Operation Mitten" to provide winter outerwear for needy children, and sponsoring social events to showcase our businesses, provide fun for the neighborhood, and raise funds for our ongoing operations, including the LVCC Summer Fest (formerly the "Clark Street Fair") and "A Night at Wrigley Field".
To preserve the history of Lake View, the LVCC obtained the rights to, updated and published Lake View Saga (a book). Copies are available at local schools and libraries and for purchase by contacting the LVCC Office.
