Lake Michigan Broadcasting, Inc. is a broadcasting entity based out of Ludington, Michigan. The company owns and operates five radio stations in West Michigan.

History

Lake Michigan Broadcasting, Inc. was founded in 1996 by Roger Baerwolf. Baerwolf, a former radio and TV executive in Texas, New York and Michigan, purchased WKLA-AM, WKLA-FM, WKZC-FM and WMTE-AM from Chickering & Associates. In 1999, Lake Michigan Broadcasting, Inc. purchased WXYQ for $380,000. The call signs were changed to WMTE-FM to reflect the co-ownership of its existing AM station WMTE.

Baerwolf Passes Away

Roger Baerwolf died unexpectedly in December 2004. His widow, Lynn Baerwolf, took over duties as President and CEO of the company following his death. His son, Michael, took over as the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer.

Lake Michigan Broadcasting Today

Today, Lake Michigan Broadcasting, Inc. has offices in Ludington, MI and Manistee, MI. It continues to broadcast local programming with community interest a priority. Local news, sports, weather and public service information is provided on a daily basis.
