Established on March 12, 1919 as Colegio de la Señora de la Consolacion by three Augustinian sisters – Sor Tomasa de la Sagrada Familia, Sor Maria Teresa de Jesus and Sor Alfonsa de la Santisima Trinidad, the college is the oldest institution of higher education in the province.

The school has two campuses; the main campus at the corner of Galo and Gatuslao streets and the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (LCC-B HTM Center) campus on Quezon Avenue, Bacolod City.

History

Upon the request of Jaro Bishop, Dennis Dougherty, the three sisters began apostolate work in Negros due to the significant Aglipayan

 presence in the province. On July 15, 1919, Colegio de la Señora de la Consolacion accepted its first 86 students, 36 of whom were interns who lived in the school dormitory.

The school is named in honor of the Virgin Mary, Consoler of the Afflicted.

Publications

  • Ripplets - School publication for the Elementary Department. Its journalists are elementary students who are mostly in their 6th Year and are from the First section of the whole year level. Printed annually.
  • Rays - School publication for the High School Department. Its journalists and editorial staff are High School students who are mostly in their Junior Years or in their 9th and 10th Year (10th year are graduating students) and are from the First section of the whole year level. Printed by semester basis.
  • Ripples - College publication. Its journalists, editorial staff and photographers consists of students from the college department. Unlike publications of the Integrated School; this school publication is in magazine form and is published every 2-3 months.
  • Harmony - The institution's publication for latest updates and news about the school administration, functions, programs, faculty, staff and agreements.

Events and traditions

The school celebrates mass every first Friday of the month for both Integrated School and College students in San Sebastian Cathedral and at the school auditorium.
  • Mass of the Holy Spirit - In the first Friday or second Friday of the academic year a mass is held for the opening of the academic year and for the new officers of the Student Government Council, Administrators, Team Leaders in subjects and the student body.
  • Feast Days - St. Augustine's, St. Monica's and Our Lady of Consolation's feasts are grand feasts here such as that prayer rallies and events are held in these days and sometimes declared as school holidays. The Feast of the Sacred Heart is also celebrated such as that it is also when the students have their acquaintance party and the parents and teachers alike have the election of officers.
  • First Friday Mass - is celebrated every month in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
  • Secular and educational events - Nutrition Month, Intramurals (Sports Fest), Science Day, Math Day, Buwan ng Wika/Linggo ng Wika (Month of the Language/Week of the Language), United Nations Week and other events are also held such as that most the events fall in Monday and Friday where opening remarks, closing remarks and major events are held.
  • Other events - High School students in their 10th Year or Graduating year have a movie festival wherein the students make their own movies and it is showed in the awards night which is held in various hotels around Bacolod. The festival names students who are best in acting, directing and other awards in that night. Alumni homecomings are also held as well as Seniors Night; Proms are not common in school, Seniors Night is the alternative for prom night.
