. After the fair, the building was donated to Chicago. It was converted into a sanitarium for care of sick children. The original building was destroyed in a fire in 1922. The hospital continued to operate at various location around the neighborhood for several years before a new permanent building was completed. A new permanent building was constructed in 1932 along with an additions in 1954, 1959 and 1992. Today it continues this tradition of specialized care.
