Koster class is a minesweeper
class operated by the Swedish navy
. From 1982-1993 seven ships were constructed. Originally called "Landsords-class" five of the ships, Koster, Kullen, Vinga, Ven and Ulvön, went thrue massive upgrades 2007-2010 and received the new class name, Koster. Sweden plans to keep the five ships in service for another 15–20 years.
The ships are constructed of extremely hard PVC plastic
that can withstand a mine blast and prevents magnetic mines to attach to the hull. The class is the only minesweeper in the world that has an advanced anti-air defence system.
