. St Patrick's is the name of the church. There is also a school, a pub and a graveyard, with about six houses in the area, with many more in the local townlands of Russell Hill and Clashanaimud. It is situated halfway between the Upton House Nursing home and an Chathaireach hillfort at the top of the hill. Recently the church underwent renovations, overseen by parish priest Fr. John Kingston. Knockavilla lies in the northern part of the Innishannon-Knockavilla parish. Two choirs are based in the church - the adult choir and youth choir, led by Carol-Ann Dennehy. A community hall is next to the church. Knockavilla Celtic is the local football club.
