The Kite Eating Tree is an amusement ride at Kings Island
in Kings Mills, Ohio. It is themed to the kids area in the park which is Planet Snoopy
. It is a miniature version of Drop Tower: Scream Zone (also at the park).
, with 3 new rides and attractions. The Kite Eating Tree was one of those new rides. The kids area then became known as Nickelodeon Universe. This makeover included complete rethemeing of all the Hanna-Barbera rides to fit the Nickelodeon theme. This is when the ride opened as Plankton's Plunge. Although Cedar Fair Entertainment Company had the rights to continue using the Nickelodeon theme through 2016 following its purchase of the park in 2006, it was decided to remove all remaining Hanna-Barbera and Nickelodeon themes from the kids area in time for the start of the 2010 season. So in 2010, the area went through a another rethemeing to fit with other Cedar Fair's kid's areas. Nickelodeon Universe then became known as Planet Snoopy
. To fit with the rethemeing, Plankton's Plunge became the Kite Eating Tree.

Kite Eating Tree is themed to the PEANUTS show Kite-Eating Tree
. The structure where the cars are attached to is painted as if it were an actual trunk of a tree. The top of the ride, is painted to look like leaves, except the leaves have a face painted on it. The vehicles that hold the 12 riders are painted so that they look like a kite, giving the experience that you are the kite, and the tree is going to eat you.

Layout and Theme
The Kite Eating Tree is a perfect ride for little thrill seekers who are not tall enough yet to ride Drop Tower: Scream Zone. It begins by taking riders up the tower to its highest peak at 20ft. It then drops riders and bounces up and down before lowering to the ground completely for the end of the ride. The ride has two "cars" that each hold 6 riders, and the cars are back to back. At some times, only one side may be operating, causing the capacity per hour to be decreased. The ride duration is about one minute and thirty seconds.
