The King William County Sheriff's Office (KWCSO) is the primary law enforcement agency servicing 15,935 people within 286 square miles (740.7 km²) of jurisdiction within King William County, VA.

History

The KWCSO was created in 1702. There have been no deaths in the line of duty in the King William County Sheriff's Office.

D.A.R.E.

The Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program has been in King William County Schools since 1986. The King William County Sheriff's Office has two certified D.A.R.E. Officers: Sheriff Jeff Walton and Deputy Keith Wright.

Organization

The agency is currently headed by Sheriff J.S. “Jeff” Walton. The Sheriff’s Office has 20 law enforcement deputies, 1 full-time and 1 part-time civil process server, 9 dispatchers, and 2 secretaries. The office has 3 deputies who handle investigations and drug work.
