Kevin Burdick is an American
singer, songwriter and pianist.
by his father, Russell and his mother, Susan along with four younger sisters. He began playing the piano, reluctantly, at the age of six; his mother found it difficult to motivate him to practice. Burdick comes from a deep musical pedigree, with his parents often performing in local musical theater and church choirs, and his grandmother a former member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
.
When Burdick entered the sixth grade he learned a well-known classic, "Hello" by Lionel Richie. From that day forward he wanted nothing more than to play rock music. He began writing his own music in the seventh grade, and he began learning to play the drums during his freshman year of high school. During his sophomore year he was given a keyboard and 4-track recorder which he used to continue recording his own music throughout high school. By his senior year, Burdick was already one of the top tenors in the state of Arizona, taking All-State choir honors and performing regularly all over the state in various musical choirs and groups. The Slamheads was Burdick's high school band, and he continued to perform with them through the beginning of his college experience at Brigham Young University
. He then moved on to found the band ZeusChannel, leaving the band behind as college came to an end.
Burdick graduated from BYU in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in geography, with minors in both music and psychology. He began a career in the private sector in Healthcare IT for 10 years, pushing his professional music career aside. Burdick held high ranks for three different medical software
companies throughout the years, including VP of Sales, Director of Partner Relations and National Sales Director. He was regarded as one of the nation's best and most reliable sources for medical software reseller information, which helped his holdings and assets grow throughout those years. In 2005 he started a consulting company, InvestMed, independently helping a number of companies develop their own healthcare reseller programs. After hours and on weekends Burdick continued to stay true to his passion, performing and writing music in the local circuits every opportunity he could get.
In 2005, Burdick began to feel that his worldly possessions were meaningless. Battling depression and loneliness, he turned to his music for comfort. In early 2006, he began the process of liquidating his assets and simplifying his lifestyle. He made the decision to retire from Healthcare IT at the age of 35, and pursue his passion for rock music full-time. Over that period, he sold everything including his stocks, his house in the hills, his condo, and his luxury vehicles—even his grand piano—to live life out of a tour bus.

In 2001, Burdick married Deborah Felsing. They had a baby girl, who died in 2003 following surgery to repair a heart defect. Shortly after her death, Burdick founded a charity in her name, The Dempsey Burdick Memorial Foundation, which provides headstones for financially needy families who have also lost a child. One of Burdick's more popular songs, "Too Good for This World," tells the story of the loss of his daughter. The marriage to Felsing didn't survive the loss of their child, and ended abruptly in 2005.
Burdick now resides in Hollywood, California, where he continues to pursue his dream.
