. Pitalkhora caves which are older than Ellora are 20 km away from Kannad. Ajanta Caves are 100 km away. Gautala Autram Ghat Wildlife Santurary is 260 Sq. miles in Kannad . It is a tehsil place. Monday is bazaar day. Two colleges are there. Shivaji college and Vinayakrao Patil college. Bank of Maharashtra, State Bank of Hydrabad, State Banka of India, as well as four branches of Aurangabad District Co-operative banks are there. Dada Guru whose name was Vishni Balkrushana Joshi born in Kannad. He was a famous poet as well as an Astrogolor in 1930. Tapargaon which is 10 km away from Kannad is birthplace of Narayan Maharaj who had written famous book, 'Muhurt Martanda". Well known mathematician Bhakarcharya's lab was on Suvaranpaleshwar hill which was high hill in Hydrabad (Nizam) region. Dr. Ramesh Suryawanshi who studied Ahirani Language and had written four books on Ahirani lived in Kannad. He also studied Bhills and Thakaras of Kannad tehsil and submitted projects on Bhills and Thakaras to Tribal Research and Training Institute, State Government, Maharashtra in 1994 and in 1997. Dr. Suryawanshi fought for the rights of tribals, Ravidras Deshmukh co-operated him in all his activities.
