Kampong Chhnang District is a district (srok) in the centre of Kampong Chhnang Province in central Cambodia
. This is classed as an urban district and the provincial capital Kampong Chhnang lies within the district. The town is also the capital of the district. The district is quite small and encompasses the provincial town and nearby communes. Kampong Chhnang is the smallest district in Kampong Chhnang province and is surrounded by other Kampong Chhnang districts. The Tonle Sap river lies on the north and eastern borders of the district.
The district is a significant transportation hub for both road and water transport. Kampong Chhnang is the smallest district in Kampong Chhnang province by land area but is densely populated. National Highway 5
which runs from Phnom Penh
to Poipet

Operation Pacific Angel is a recurring joint/combined humanitarian assistance mission sponsored by US Pacific Command (USPACOM) designed to bring humanitarian civic assistance and civil-military operations to areas in need in the Pacific region. In May 2008, the first Pacific Angel mission took place. Members of the US Air Force, US Army, and US Marine Corps conducted the twofold mission to Cambodia and Thailand. At the Kampong Chhnang district hospital, medical and dental programs were set up to see patients along with doctors from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the Children’s Surgical Centre. Medical staff provided cost-free general medical care, women's health care, and ophthalmology/optometry care to a total of more than 6,000 people in Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Cham.
