Academics

The school was recognized for educational excellence by the U.S. Department of Education twice in the last decade.

42% of teachers hold masters' degrees.

Student activities

The school's mascot is Captain Comet, with its teams being called The Comets.

The school is known for its men's basketball teams, which won state championships in 1983, 2001 and 2008. They also reached the finals in 1984 and 2002.

KCHS is also known to have dominant women's sports, especially soccer and softball, winning many state titles.

Kalamazoo Christian High School is known for both Men's and Women's tennis teams. Both teams have had strong seasons with a few of the doubles teams winning state on the Women's Varsity tennis team.

Kalamazoo Christian fielded strong Men's Cross Country teams in the early 1980s. They won a state championship in 1981, finished 3rd in 1980, and 2nd in 1982.

Football team took three conference championships from 2006-2008 seasons.

In 1987 and 1988 the senior classes were allowed to camp out on the sports fields during a school night. The event was canceled the next year and wasn't held again til 2007. Event was held again in 2007 and 2008 and has been banned permanently due to the actions of a few individuals.
